You Can Do This: A Reflection on Confidence

Romina Centeno February 6, 2026 SPC2608-2263-11368 Group 1    Presenting in classrooms is what I'm used to, doing it via Zoom felt less intimidating, yet it still challenged my confidence in unexpected ways. To start off, I joined this class a week late because I was still switching my schedule. Being a new student or basically the leftover and placed into groups that were already formed felt overwhelming. Especially since I was behind on work and my group members already knew each other. To my luck, Mrs. Sinkoff and my group members were very welcoming making this process easier for me.      Once I got settled in, they briefly explained what the presentation was about. I already knew this was a public speaking class but what I didn't expect was that we'd have a presentation by the second week of class. However, I've always been confident in my work as long as I'm prepared. So I was actually excited - as long as it wasn't book work or a test, this kind of assign...

Pressure Creates Discipline

Pressure Creates Discipline Darshan Martinot Group 1 Reflection SPC 2608 – Foundations of Public Speaking February 2026 When I first read that we would be the first group to do this project, I wasn't worried about speaking in front of a crowd; I was worried about responsibility. I felt like whatever we decided to do would set a precedent for the rest of the class. I take my responsibilities very seriously when others are counting on me, therefore I felt a great deal of pressure to make sure the project was completed on time, with effort, and accurately. In contrast to individual assignments where only one person's grade will reflect on them individually, group projects create an atmosphere of accountability among each group member. If any single member performs poorly, it negatively impacts the entire group. That knowledge forced me to stay organized from day one. I did not want to be the reason the group struggled and at the same time, I did not want to rely solely on others t...

Confidence is Key!

Carlymar Aguero February 6, 2026 SPC2608-2263-11368 Group 1 Confidence is Key!   Welcome! In this vlog you will find: Group 1 Resolution + confident strategies that helped me make a great presenation + comment on group presentations + ! 💫 At the beginning of this assignment, I honestly felt nervous about being in the first group to present. Knowing that we were going first made the pressure feel heavier because there was no example to follow from other groups. I also felt like the class would pay extra attention to us since we were presenting first, which made me even more anxious. Public speaking is something that I have always found challenging, especially when I feel like everyone is focused on me and listening closely. I worried that I would get nervous, speak too fast, or forget what I wanted to say. However, as our group started planning, I began to realize that we could do well if we stayed organized and communicated effectively. One of the best things we did was dividing ...

The Art of Public Speaking- Group 1

Foundations of Public Speaking and Building Confidence To Be Great  My experience with Group 1 and learning about the fundamentals in creating a good public speaker was eye-opening. My group as well as all of the other groups highlighted the importance of Confidence. I learned that public speaking is a skill that can be acquired with practice and not something people are just born with. It not only takes practice, but preparation, knowledge, and reliability as well.  Although there are many other Principles to the art, The base of it all is definitely what you know and how you present it.  Effective communication can make or break a Speech. A speaker must always be aware of their credibility and their audience. I discovered that for in order for a speaker to become reliable, they must build their credibility through the audience using credible sources and effectively communicating their message to whoever is listening. Although public speaking is about conveying a message...

I Think We Did Good! (group 1)

To be honest, when this group project was first assigned, I have to say I was a bit stressed out about it. The thought of coming up with an entire speech within a week or two’s time frame was a bit overwhelming, especially since we were assigned to go first out of the four groups. Going first also meant that we didn’t have anything to look at or any guidelines on just how detailed our speeches were expected to be, which also contributed to my stress levels. All I could think about at this point was just making sure I had enough time, that I stayed organized, and that everyone within my group stayed on the same page. However, as I started getting into this project, I knew that organization was key so that things didn’t completely get out of hand. I made sure that each and every member within my group had a topic and a role within the presentation, which I think really helped a lot since it ensured that no one within the group became confused about what they were doing and what they were...

We Did Our Very Best (Group 1)

We Did Our Very Best Amanda Perera SPC 2608-2263-11368            At first, I believed it would've been tough for the entire group to be able to complete and present an entire presentation all in the span of a week or two as courtesy of being the first group out of four assigned groups in total. But as we gradually got altogether, we made sure that every single group member was able to receive a topic to work on and create their own respective parts to present under their own names.   In the midst of figuring out who would accomplish and fulfill the task in choosing a chapter and their respective units to work on, new faces joined our class, which resulted in a new member joining the group while another member was dropped out of both the group and the class. With many of the decisions having already been thought out, a member kindly offered to share her part of completing the second chapter with her. This splitting of the work aided in both of th...
