Reflecting on the Presentation DARSHAN MARTINOT

Image
Reflecting on the Presentations DARSHAN MARTINOT I really enjoyed watching my classmates' presentations as part of this class because I saw how each student presented their topic differently. Some of the presentations were very enjoyable and easy to follow, and some of the presentations required me to think more critically about the topics the students were presenting. I also enjoyed seeing how different students explained their ideas, structured their information and visualized the data they were using to help support the ideas they were communicating. I also appreciated the ability to see the strengths and weaknesses of presentations so that I may develop my public speaking skills. I observed several key factors during the presentations that contributed to whether or not the audience remained engaged and attentive. One of the factors I observed was the impact of a presenter's delivery on the engagement of the audience. When presenters spoke confidently and clearly, the audi...

1800s-2000s change makers

Camilla Carla  SPC2608-2263-11368 9-9:50AM Group 1  Change-makers from the 1800s to the 2000s have played a crucial role in improving society and fighting an endless war for fairness and equality. These individuals challenged injustice and worked hard to make the world a better place. Learning about them helps us understand how the freedom and opportunities we have today were created through the efforts and sacrifices of people in the past. In the 1800s, many change-makers focused on basic human rights. But, it was also a huge time for technology. For example, Frederick Douglass spoke out against slavery after escaping it himself, helping raise awareness about the cruelty of the system. Another important figure was Susan B. Anthony, who worked for women’s right to vote and helped begin the movement for gender equality in politics. Their courage showed that standing up against unfair systems can lead to long-term change. While Thomas Edison on the other hand, worked on technolo...

The Power of Words: My Reflection on Frederick Douglass

Aguero Carlymar March 11, 2026 SPC2608-2263-11368 Group 1 The Power of Words: My Reflection on Frederick Douglass   After finishing my first presentation for this class, I felt a little more comfortable with the idea of presenting in front of others through Zoom. Even though I had already experienced how online presentations work, I still felt some pressure preparing for this next group project. I knew I would have to learn new historical information and be able to explain it clearly. Our group decided to focus on the 1800s , a time period filled with major social and political changes in the United States. At first, the era did not immediately interest me because it feels very distant from the world we live in today. However, I soon realized that many important movements and ideas that shape society today actually began during this century.     Once we selected the 1800s as our era, each member of the group chose an influential figure from that time. The peopl...

My 1800s Reflection : Harriet Tubman

From the start, stories of bold choices have shaped how people see America's past. Not far into the 1800s came Harriet Tubman, born into bondage yet stepping beyond it by fleeing on her own. Once free, she didn’t settle - instead, return after return pulled more people from chains. Few carried such weight without stepping back when danger rose close. Her path wasn’t lit by speeches or titles but by silent midnight moves through woods and rivers. Because of that steady push, many began calling her name like a quiet promise. Even now, long past those years, faces light up differently at mention of what she did. What stayed behind isn’t just facts in books - it’s a shape left in the air where courage once moved. Little is known about her earliest years, yet records point to 1822 in Dorchester County, Maryland. She entered life as Araminta Ross, part of a lineage held captive on a farm where survival meant labor without choice. Childhood offered no shelter from cruelty - days began bef...

My Changemaker Project Reflection (Group 1)

Abraham Lincoln: My Changemaker Reflection Amanda Perera Sherri Sinkoff SPC 2608-2263-11368     My group's changemaker project was centered primarily around prominent figures of the 1800s. The  1800s were a crucial point in history for major beneficial changes regarding civil and natural rights that  help pave way for the civil rights movements in the 1900s, industrial inventions that paved a way for  future inventions, and the ensuring of natural rights regardless of gender or race.     For my part in my group's changemaker project, I focused on one of the most prominent leading  benefactors for putting an end to slavery in the United States for good: President Abraham Lincoln. He was the first ever president from the Republican Party, and he was a moderate man who pushed for  all African Americans and other minorities to achieve equal rights throughout the entirety of the  American Civil War. A fun fact I'd found out about Lincol...

My 1800s Era Reflection: Susan B. Anthony

Romina Centeno March 5, 2026 SPC2608-2263-11368 Group 1     After completing my first presentation in this class, I felt more prepared going into the next group project. Even though I got to test the waters with how presentations through zoom feels, I still felt pressure knowing I had to memorize new information. This time it was also about a topic I was not necessarily very interested in. However, our group ultimately chose the 1800s out of all the eras because it was a time when many major changes in rights and democracy first began. This was a good topic because it was pathway for all of the eras that other groups were going to present about. I personally would've rather picked the 2000's because that is the era I was born in and the one I feel most connected to.     As soon as our group decided on the 1800s as our era, we all gathered and chose a change maker that spoke the most to us. My group members chose Frederick Douglas, Thomas Edison, Abraham Lincoln, Samu...

You Can Do This: A Reflection on Confidence

Romina Centeno February 6, 2026 SPC2608-2263-11368 Group 1    Presenting in classrooms is what I'm used to, doing it via Zoom felt less intimidating, yet it still challenged my confidence in unexpected ways. To start off, I joined this class a week late because I was still switching my schedule. Being a new student or basically the leftover and placed into groups that were already formed felt overwhelming. Especially since I was behind on work and my group members already knew each other. To my luck, Mrs. Sinkoff and my group members were very welcoming making this process easier for me.      Once I got settled in, they briefly explained what the presentation was about. I already knew this was a public speaking class but what I didn't expect was that we'd have a presentation by the second week of class. However, I've always been confident in my work as long as I'm prepared. So I was actually excited - as long as it wasn't book work or a test, this kind of assign...
